Facebook’s Graph Search is Finally Here

After months of anticipation, our sources tell us that Facebook’s Graph Search tool is finally here. Although some people may have already seen Graph Search in their news feeds, this week it was rolled out to all users in the United States. For now, Graph Search is only available on desktop computers, but it’s likely that a mobile version is in the works.

Test Graph Search for Yourself

Whether or not your business is planning to use Graph Search for marketing right away, it’s a good idea for local marketing experts to use it for themselves. That way, you’ll have a better understanding of how it works and if it would be effective for your business.

What Can Graph Search Do?

Facebook has offered a basic search bar for some time, but Graph Search takes this function to a new level. With Graph Search, you find people based on their interests and places they’ve been. Almost anything that people include on their Facebook profiles can be searched.

Like most new online tools, the Graph Search is still improving. Although the tool still isn’t 100 percent accurate, it provides a wealth of information for local social media marketing professionals. Here are some of the things you can find with Graph Search:

  • People you may know
  • Your friends
  • Photos of your friends
  • Music and movies your friends like
  • Restaurants

How Can Graph Search Improve Your Marketing?

Because some users have adjusted their privacy settings, some of this information won’t be available through the Graph Search tool. Keep in mind that people always had access to the same information on Facebook; the Graph Search function just makes it easier for people to find and organize the information. For this reason, it’s helpful to businesses because people can discover them more easily than they could before.

Also, it’s now easier than ever for businesses to reach out to new audiences based on their interests, location, and what their friends are doing. The Graph Search tool will give businesses more visibility, and as a general rule, that’s good for marketers.
