Facebook Updates Make Advertising Much Simpler

Facebook Updates Make Life Easier for Advertisers

Facebook has become a popular choice for local advertisers, and for good reason. Millions of people check their Facebook news feeds every day, and some people log in to Facebook more often than they check their email inboxes. Thankfully, Facebook is working on improving some of its options for advertisers.

More Advertising Options

If you’ve logged into Facebook recently, you’ve most likely seen content from advertisers in your news feed. There are also ads on the right side of the news feed, but Facebook contends that those ads are not as effective as the Page post link ads. Before the recent updates, any ad automatically went to the right-side format, but advertisers can publish Page post ads with a link to another website.

Reach New Audiences with Unpublished Posts

Sometimes you might want to reach new audiences with content that you might not necessarily want your company’s Facebook followers to see. For example, your company might run a special promotion for new clients only. In these cases, it might be useful to publish an “unpublished” post, which allows you to select the group of people who will see your post and link. That way, your current followers won’t see your post in their news feeds.

Keep in mind, however, that your current Facebook friends should be rewarded for their loyalty to your company. Make sure that you offer them promotions, special coupons, and other benefits, too.

More Ways to Customize Page Post Links

Whether you’re posting published or unpublished ads, Facebook offers new ways to customize your content. When you include a link to an outside website, you can either choose one of the web page’s images, or you can upload an image from your computer. Images are critical to the success of your ad; without a captivating image, Facebook users are likely to gloss over your ad.

Simpler Options for Advertisers

If you’re confused about the many advertising options on Facebook, you’re not the only one in the local social media marketing industry who feels that way. The process of setting up ads was so complicated that many companies were losing money on campaigns. For local marketing experts, time is in short supply. The less time we spend sorting through ad options, the more time we have to devote to creating outstanding online content.

Fortunately, Facebook is scaling back its advertising options so that it’s easier to choose the right type of targeted ad for your company. Facebook reports that the price of its advertising will not change. Hopefully, these improvements will help companies save time and generate more sales leads.

Chris Marentis is a passionate entrepreneur and innovator determined to leave a legacy bigger than himself. Chris grew up in an entrepreneurial family with a father who owned a home contracting HVAC business. When traditional media was disrupted by the online world, empowering consumers to rely less on sales people and advertisements to make decisions, large companies with big budgets could afford to play the game, but the local entrepreneur, like Chris’s father was left behind. This disadvantage inspired Chris to write Surefire Social: the guide for local SMB’s to compete in the digital world. Chris was invited to speak at events and demand grew for ways to implement his ideas. Chris turned his vision into a reality when he started Surefire Social in 2009. Feedback was strong. Businesses began asking for help implementing their digital marketing and Surefire evolved into a SaaS and services business. The company’s dramatic growth came with only 1-2 sales people at any given time and a limited marketing budget, thanks to referrals from rabidly loyal clients. The company’s latest innovation Surepulse, an SMB’s Digital CMO, provides data insights and competitive tactics to marketing novices, giving them complete control over their online marketing activities. Chris has spoken at the following events: SMX, BIA/Kelsey, Hanley Wood International Roofing Show and Contractor Summit, NAILBA National Conference, Tech Summit, CCN, GAF Wealth Builders, Gutter Helmet National Dealer Meeting.
